Contact your Republican Assembly Rep for leadership vote
As we all know, Wisconsin just had a general election on November 3rd, 2020. All ninety-nine (99) Assembly Representatives were up for election, as well as sixteen (16) or half of the State Senate. I digested the election results in previous blog articles about the Senate and both the Democrat Assembly Representatives and Republican Representative Representatives as far as recreational cannabis and medical marijuana are concerned. We learned a great deal from that analysis. I urge you to read the blog articles, but one Incumbent Republican stood out as a leader on marijuana reform to me and that was Rep. Shae Sortwell.
From past sessions we have learned that leadership roles and committee assignments are also very important as to the fate of marijuana measures at the state level. For over a decade now, marijuana reform has died in committee(s) without even so much as a public hearing.
The Republicans are still in control of both the Wisconsin State Senate and Assembly after the November 2020 election. The majority caucus in the Assembly is now selecting their leadership for the 2021-2022 legislative session, the vote is set for Tuesday November 10th, 2020.
If you are represented by any Republican Assembly Representative, Incumbent re-elected or newly elected assembly representative, now is the time to reach out to them. I hope you have a past relationship with your Incumbent, but if not, now is the great time to begin one. Congratulate your Incumbent or newly elected assembly representative for their public service and election victory and ask them to vote for Rep. Shae Sortwell as the Assistant Majority Leader Tuesday November 10th, 2020.
