Press Release: Feb 22nd Lobby Day

Action Alert For Immediate Release

February 19th, 2023

WHO: Wisconsin Cannabis Advocates and Media

WHAT: Cannabis Grassroots Advocacy Day

WHEN: February 22, 2023

WHERE: Madison State Capitol

WHY: Wisconsin Needs Legal Cannabis

On February 22, 2023, The Wisconsin Cannabis Activist Network will hold a grassroots advocacy day in Madison at the State Capitol Building. Governor Evers has proposed cannabis legalization in his budget. All Democrats in both houses support some form of cannabis legalization and a handful of GOP lawmakers support legalization.

The Capitol visits to lawmakers will focus on persuading Republicans to support legal cannabis, with emphasis on those elected in 2022 who indicated they supported reform while on the campaign trail. GOP lawmakers are expected to remove the cannabis legalization budget provision along with other policy matters. We will be working with Republicans to author a legalization bill this session and to seek co-sponsors.

The time is long overdue for the Legislature to unite across party lines to do what is correct and legalize cannabis and send the Bill to Governor Evers for his signature!

We call on our fellow Wisconsin residents to join us and activists from throughout Wisconsin from 9am until 3pm in Room 400 Northeast of the State Capitol on Feb 22nd as we take part in the democratic process.

We will be conducting a meet and greet / overview of the day’s events from 9am to 10am before we begin our meetings with legislators and staffers. An activist will be available in Room 400 Northeast throughout the day.
