AD 9: Priscilla Prado (D) vs Ryan Antczak (R)

| | |

The 9th Assembly district is located in southeast Wisconsin, the district is entirely contained within Milwaukee County. It comprises the village of West Milwaukee and part of the south side of the city of Milwaukee, including the Layton Park neighborhood and Southgate. The district also contains the Mitchell Park Domes, historic Forest Home Cemetery, Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, Jackson Park, and the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino.

Incumbent Marisabel Cabrera (D-Milwaukee) had represented the district since 2019, but that is about to change. She won a seat on the Milwaukee County Circuit Court and that leaves the seat wide open for the next Democrat.

Ryan Antczak (R-Milwaukee)

Antczak ran in 2022 for this district and lost. He also ran for election to the Milwaukee Common Council to represent District 8 in Wisconsin in this spring of 2024 and lost.

Relevant experience: U.S. Army Reserve, civil affairs specialist; Federal Bureau of Prisons, Federal Correctional Institution- Oxford retired, roles: business administrator, supervisory contract specialist, warehouse foreman, correctional officer; AFGE Local 3495 – Department of Justice, union vice president

In 2022 he told me: I’m of the minority that feel that it is a gateway drug. It does have its benefits & for those reasons alone I’d be for it. But not for recreation till we can determine how much is to much like we do with alcohol. Yes for medical. Recreational I’m against cuz of how impaired you can get. If we could measure as to how much is to much LIKE we can do with alcohol. Then I’d more for it.

In the event that we end up with divided government in the 2024-25 legislation session, the official formation of The Wisconsin Cannabis Caucus would be a must first step towards reform. The official establishment of this Caucus will represent the growing, bipartisan support in Wisconsin.

Although session as ended we still urge you to contact your elected officials. The top four action alerts are still functionable on The Wisconsin Cannabis Activist Action Network for you immediate use.
