Who is Rachael “RCG” Cabral-Guevara?

Representative Rachael Cabral-Guevara Assembly District 55 (R - Appleton)

Rachael Cabral-Guevara (born August 10, 1976) is an American nurse practitioner, educator, and Republican politician. She is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 55th Assembly district since 2021. Her current district comprises Neenah and the western suburbs of Appleton, Wisconsin.

In the 2021-22 she was on the following committees:

The legislative home page says this about her:

Rep. Rachael Cabral – Guevara was born in Appleton and raised in the Air Force which gave her the opportunity to live across our country. She returned to attend college after high school and hasn’t left Wisconsin since.

She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and has been a licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber since 2008. She has practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner within a community health center, student health center, and urgent care clinic. Rep. Cabral – Guevara opened NPHS – Nurse Practitioner Health Services LLC in Appleton to provide affordable and convenient healthcare to her community.

She taught at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh within the College of Nursing and believes educating one nurse allows her to extend caring to thousands of patients she never comes in contact with who need nursing cares.

Her passion for travel and adventure stem from her family life in the Air Force. She loves hiking, visiting new places and learning new things. In the summer she enjoys providing medical care to migrant camps across the state. One item on her bucket list is obtaining a pilot’s license allowing her to travel further in shorter amounts of time.

I have been following this politician since her primary race in 2020. She was one of the most vocal supporters of cannabis reform in the 2020 Republican party primary races. After her victory in November of 2020 she was assigned Room 420 in the Madison State Capitol her first term in office.

I had chance to meet with her in Neenah during her first year in office. I was impressed by her knowledge about the subject of cannabis law reform. She was great to have a conversation with and I left the meeting feeling confident that she does care about this issue.

It is going to take more than Republican Rachael “RCG” Cabral-Guevara to legalize medical marijuana in Wisconsin, but we should thank her for doing the right thing.  She was the only Republican to cross the aisle in the 2021-22 session and co-sponsor a version of medical marijuana legislation more patient focused, allowing home growing and smoking products.  She was also a co-sponsor of the Republican partisan medical cannabis bill.

She announced recently announced that she will not seek re-election in the assembly in 2022, but instead will seek election in Senate District 19 as Senator Roger Roth from Appleton gives up his seat to run for Lt. Governor in 2022.

Please feel free to join Representative Cabral-Guevara at the Fox Crossing Municipal building on April 1st from 1:00pm until 2:30pm for a Town Hall to discuss local and statewide topics.
